BBC to establish Foundation in honour of Komla Dumor

The BBC has indicated its preparedness to establish a bursary or Foundation in honour of departed Ghanaian broadcaster, Komla Dumor, who worked with the beeb from 2006.

Director of Global News at the British broadcaster, Peter Horrocks, made this known during a Monday afternoon impromptu memorial gathering, held in his honour.

Horrocks was the first to speak at Monday?s gathering, warmly recalling how Dumor would always call him ?boss? despite his protestations to the contrary.

He blazed a path for so many others,? said Horrocks of Dumor?s rise from a radio show in Ghana to a globally-respected journalist with wide-reaching influence.

The gathering ended with the singing of Asimbonanga (We Have Not Seen Him), a song originally about Nelson Mandela and chosen because of Dumor?s respect for the former South African leader.

His funeral is due to be held in Accra, while another formal memorial service will be held in London.
