The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, has restated the determination of the leadership of the State Assembly to make its worker?s welfare a top priority.

?The Speaker gave this cheering news when the leadership of the State Assembly Civil Service Commission paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

?The commission also used the forum to submit the 2013???Assembly Annual report.

?Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, assured the workers that the Assembly under his leadership would ensure that challenges amounting to unconducive working atmosphere are confronted head on, while congratulating them for performing their duties diligently.

?He also pledged that the issue of office accommodation would be a thing of the past, as plans are underway for the House to relocate to its major chambers which its refurbishment is nearing completion, while promising that the temporary complex would solve their accommodation problems.

?Earlier in his presentation of the report to the Speaker, the Chairman, State House of Assembly Service Commission, Barr. Emma Ibediro, reminded the Speaker that their action in presenting the report was in compliance to their statutory functions as enshrined in the law establishing it.

?He started that the report captures the details and up-to-date information about the assembly work force as well as Honourable members and clerks of the House from 1979 till date.

?Barr. Ibediro disclosed that the Commission?s statutory functions included, recruitment, promotion, transfer, secondment, training and discipline of the Assembly Staff, and pointed out that a total number of 259 staff members benefited from promotion, advancement and conversation during the period under review.

?The Commission Chairman, further enumerated challenges confronting the Assembly service Commission to include, inadequate office accommodation and office equipment, as well as operational vehicles for the leadership of the commission to enable it perform its duties creditably.

?He however, thanked the state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the House of Assembly, ably led by the Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, for their unflinching support and for giving them a sense of belonging through their official services to the House.
