Sylva Ifedigbo, a columnist with Daily Times Nigeria, has announced the launch of his much anticipated second book, ‘The Funeral Did Not End’.

The book, which is a collection of 20 short stories, is published by Dada Publication.

Ifedigbo, who trained as a Veterinary Doctor at University of Nigeria Nsukka, now works in Corporate Communication. The author is an award winning fiction writer and essayist. He has written widely on Nigerian Socio-political issues both online and in the print media, with Next Newspaper and Daily Times having carried his by-line regularly. His novella, Whispering Aloud, was published in 2008 by Spectrum Books Ibadan.

‘The Funeral Did Not End’ will be presented to the public on Saturday, September 15, from 5pm-7pm at the Kongi’s Harvest Gallery, Freedom Park, Hospital Road, Lagos Island.

According to a statement by the publisher, the book will also be available for digital download at from September 15.

Commenting on the book, Pius Adesanmi, winner of the Penguin Prize for African Writing, said, “Amazing! Brilliant! The claim that the short story is an underdeveloped genre in Africa has finally been laid to rest by Sylva Nze Ifedigbo in this scintillating debut. Ifedigbo is the undisputable master of his landscape and his characters. This is art tout court.”

Expressing his excitement at the release of the book, Ayodele Arigbabu, publisher of DADA books, said, “A writer with Sylva?s background should not have had such a powerful collection waiting in the wings for so long. And having had such a long wait, we?re excited to be at this point… there are many excuses to do this in a big way, it?s been a long time coming, so we?re doing it in style.”
