Ibrahim Tanko is enjoying mixed fortunes at Cameroon
Ibrahim Tanko Enjoying Mixed Fortunes As Fifa Suspends Cameroon But Awards Them Points

Ex Ghana star striker Ibrahim Tanko is enjoying mixed fortunes as Cameroon assistant coach as FIFA has slapped an indefinite ban on the Indomitable Lions but has awarded them points against Togo.

Fifa said in a statement that its decision was taken ?on account of government interference?.

Things could turn worse for the former Borussia Dortmund and SC Freiburg striker as Cameroon could be prevented from Cameroon playing a key World Cup qualifier against Libya on 6 September.

But on the flip side, they have something to cheer about as they have gone top of their World Cup qualifying group, because Togo fielded an ineligible player against them last month.

Togo beat the four-time African champions 2-0 in Lome in a Group I game in but FIFA has ruled they fielded an unqualified players and have docked them the maximum points at stake.

This would boost Tanko?s dreams of coaching Cameroon as assistant coach at the 2014 FIFA World Cup but would have to wait until FIFA announce a decision otherwise.

FECAFOT ? governing body of Cameroonian football, say they would appeal against FIFA?s ruling.

Tanko, who made over 15 appearances for Ghana?s Black Stars in an international career spanning between 1996 and 2004, was appointed assistant to German Volker Finke in early June.
