Akwasi Appiah insists he is not desperate to secure a contract extension as coach of Ghana as pressure cranks up on the Ghana FA to make the offer following Ghana?s successful World Cup qualifying campaign.

Appiah was appointed in 2012 with the main aim of qualifying the Black Stars to the 2014 World Cup.

Many have since called on the Ghana FA to hand the ex Asante Kotoko defender a fresh deal following his success in qualifying Ghana to next year?s World Cup in Brazil.

The Ghana FA however appear to be stalling with Appiah?s current contract set to expire after the World Cup.

But Appiah insists he is desperate to secure an extension with his focus fully on preparing the side for the finals.

?I am not agitating for a contract extension now,? he told GTV?s Stage Africa show.

?The Ghana Football Association is yet to speak to me about it but my focus now is preparing the team to do well at the World Cup. If they approach me, fine by me.?

Ghana were impressive during the qualifiers as they blew away some of the best teams on the African continent.

The Black Stars will be facing Germany, Portugal and USA in Group G at next year?s finals in Brazil.
