Embattled stalwart of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey has told XYZ News he has picked up intelligence that suggest some disgruntled members of the party intend exacting mob attacks on him.

?I hear everyday people saying they are massing up to come and beat me but we?ll see?, he said.

Dr. Wereko Brobbey has come under intense criticism from his party following his description of the party?s 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a clueless and confused Witness in the ongoing election petition hearing at the Supreme Court.

He has been suspended by the National Executive Council over the comments and referred to the party?s Disciplinary Committee.

Dr. Wereko Brobbey however insisted in an interview with XYZ News that he remained a full member of the Party.

As far as his claim of a mob justice threat against him is concerned, Dr. Wereko-Brobbey said: ?It doesn?t help anybody?s cause that you spout democracy and legitimacy and rule of law and practice intolerance and lawlessness?.

He said his critics are talking ?rubbish?, adding that he will not allow himself to be gagged.

?Let?s match ideas with ideas; mind with mind; that?s what the debate in an intelligent party is all about?, Dr. Wereko-Brobbey averred.

He said the current level of ?intolerance? in the party ?creates a very bad image for the party that is founded on tolerance, free expression, rule of law to actually become like the people we used to accuse.
