Ghana coach Maxwell Konadu has furiously reacted to reports of extorting monies from players in order to field them at the ongoing CHAN tournament.

The home-based Black Stars coach has come under intense criticism for his team?s below-par performance at the tournament being staged in South Africa.

Ghana have been unimpressive despite remaining unbeaten in the competition ? with a win and then a draw in the opening two group games against Congo and Libya respectively.

Coach Konadu has been blamed by his sceptics for selecting ?mediocre? players for his personal financial gain.

But the assistant coach of the main Black Stars team describes these allegations as ?outrageous shameful falsehood? by people who simply want to run his reputation down.

?I have heard the allegations that I take monies from players I select. These are outrageous shameful falsehood allegations,? he told Metro FM.

?People just don?t understand what we are trying to do with the team.

?People say y for instance, I have taken money from [Richard] Mpong to field him in the team.

?What does Mpong have that I would like to take money from him?

?I would like to place on record that I have not approached any player to extort monies from them in order to select them for the national team.

?People who don?t really know me go round making these false reports.

?Good name is always better than riches and I believe it is just a plot by some individuals who want to run me down.

?I will never take monies from any player. That is not how I was brought up.?

Ghana still have the chance to finish Group C as winners as they face Ethiopia on Tuesday.

The Black Stars are currently second with four points going into the final group game.
