Movie producer and director Shirley Frimpong-Manso has bemoaned the fallen standards in radio in Ghana today.
She complained about the lack of professionalism now, which she says is a far cry from what pertained some years ago.
The award-winning producer, who did radio from 1996 to 2000, disclosed that she hardly listens to radio nowadays because of fallen standards.
“Those days were a little different from these days. You are one of the people I looked up to,” she told the host of Cosmopolitan Mix, Doreen Andoh.
She continued that, during her radio days, everything was fresh “there was a lot of professionalism on the airwaves. There was a lot of decorum. You were meant to do the right thing.”
Shirley confessed that when she tunes in these days to listen to the radio, “except for one or two people that I think they’ve gotten the training from back then, so you can hear the difference between Doreen Andoh and the others because you know that she still has that training.”
“I can’t believe the kind of stuff that is on our airwaves now … It’s just crazy,” she lamented.
Shirley Frimpong-Manso was the co-host of the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM Friday.
