Communities in Obowo local government area of the state were agog, weekend, as the Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, was conferred with a chieftaincy title of ?Enyioha 1? of Umuokeh autonomous community.

The ceremony which attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, including wife of the state governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, members of the state executive council, Honourable members of the state House of Assembly, Royal fathers and captains of industries, followed the formal coronation of the traditional ruler of the community HRH Eze Ifeanyichukwu John Okafor-Ibe (Oke 1 of Umuokeh).

Conferring the title on the Speaker, the traditional ruler, Eze Ifeanyichukwu Okafor, stated that the community resolved to bestow the title on the Speaker based on his numerous achievements in the area in particular and Okigwe senatorial zone in general.

He noted that the Speaker, in his reign as the leader of the state Assembly, has ensured stability in the administration of the House, adding that such feat which according to him, had guaranteed productivity and peace in the governance of the state and prayed that the good Lord would continue to guide him in his quest to render first class services to his people.

In his remarks, the Speaker, Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu, who was also the Chairman of the occasion, thanked God and the good people of Umuokeh autonomous community for finding Eze Ifeanyichukwu Okafor, worthy of leading his people, pointing out that his eventual coronation has brought a dignified value to the platform of traditional leadership of the state.

Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, who paid glowing tributes to the traditional ruler also commended the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, for initiating the Community Government Council, CGC, as well as the Imo state House of Assembly, for their role in giving the policy a befitting legal framework, adding that such law has brought sanity and peace to our communities.

He further prayed God to grant the new monarch a long life and good health to enable him bring good values, lasting peace, growth and above all, wisdom and the fear of God to lead his people aright.
