President Nana Akufo-Addo’s nominee for Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, has been confirmed.
The nominee, Mr Osei Assibey Antwi, won by 132 votes out of the 133 of the total valid votes cast.
News Ghana can confirm that out of the 146 Assembly Members, 133 turned up for the endorsement of the nominee.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah, was also present at the meeting.
Some assembly members had earlier pronounced their endorsement for him since they were happy with his nomination.
Mr Assibey Antwi, 52, holds MBA in Marketing and is also a certified member of the Institute of Commercial Management.
He served as Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor’s administration.
The newly elected MCE takes over the mantle from Kojo Bonsu, who abdicated his appointment prior the 2016 general elections.
