Deceased Laying

The deceased laying in his blood

Residents in the Bolgatanga Municipality expressed shock at the death of a young man on Thursday who was involved in an accident.

The deceased was identified as Nsoyine from Bukere, a suburb of Bolgatanga.

The deceased, who was in his early 30s, travelled to the Bolgatanga Hospital Mortuary to convey a body for burial on that fateful day.

Some residents believe the young man might have made a derogatory remark about the deceased whose body he conveyed in the morning for burial.

The accident occurred at the Bolgatanga Regional Library junction around 5:30pm.

The young man died on the spot while the elderly man, who was on the other motorbike, was rushed to the hospital by personnel of the Ghana Police Service.

The elderly man, who is said to be a retired social welfare officer, was travelling from the direction of the High Court on the motorbike towards the SSNIT Office Complex when the young man rammed into him with his motorbike, according to eyewitnesses.
Eyewitnesses said due to the impact of the crash, the
helmets of the victims were displaced and they both landed in a concrete gutter.

The elderly man was on admission at the hospital as at the time of filing this report.

Accidents involving motorbikes are common in the Bolgatanga Municipality.

Some people have attributed the increase in accidents in the area to the disregard of traffic regulations by residents, especially the youth.
