At least nine people were injured and hundreds of families are homeless after heavy rains hit a commune in Burundi’s southern Rutana province on Saturday, local administrator said Monday. rain
“Several villages in the commune were affected. At least 600 buildings including schools and churches were destroyed,” Spajon Nizigama, administrator of Giharo commune told Xinhua, adding hectares of banana and cassava crops were damaged.
The administrator said the victims are in desperate need of food and shelter. Enditem
