Hearts of Oak claim they pulled out on signing Swedish trainer Tom Strand as their new head coach, the club have confirmed.

A last minute hitch scuppered the deal as both parties could not reach an agreement over his signing on fee.

Strand was given permission by his club Medeama to negotiate with Hearts of Oak but his demand for a US$ 185,000 fee put the Phobians off.

The FA Cup winner was ready to take the huge leap in his coaching by handling the former African champions.

Hearts on Tuesday announced the appointment of ex-Ghana winger Yaw Preko as assistant coach and he has taken charge of the club?s pre-season programme.
