The Health Accounting Staff Association of Ghana (HASAG) has issued an ultimatum to the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), demanding immediate negotiations on their conditions of service or face industrial action starting Monday, June 23.

In a June 20 press release, the association accused the FWSC of violating Ghana’s Labour Act by failing to commit to concrete negotiation timelines after eight months of stalled talks.

HASAG National President Emmanuel Dennis Kofi Amoah emphasized that the FWSC’s delay undermines labor relations principles, warning that accounting staff play critical roles in healthcare delivery.

National Secretary Setosafia Knit Fiawoyife explained that a strike would disrupt medical billing systems, preventing patients from accessing medications without verified payments. The association maintains that continued FWSC inaction jeopardizes Ghana’s healthcare operations and violates legal obligations for good-faith negotiations.
