Accra, 20th May, 2012: Happy FM, the number one sports station in Ghana has partnered up with Unique Trust Bank (UT), to embark on a blood donation exercise as part of their corporate social responsibility to raise awareness about the need for regular and voluntary blood donations. Dubbed “A Pint For A Life”, the donation will take place on Friday, May 25 at the UT Bank Head Office, Airport City (Manet Towers) from7:00am to 4:00pm.

Personnel from the Korle-Bu Blood Bank will be attending to prospective donors. After registration, prospective donors will go through a mini-health screen comprising a temperature, blood pressure, and pulse check.

According to Charles Osei Asibey, General Manager of Happy FM, “the exercise is meant to encourage others to take up their responsibilities as good citizens and to be active participants in humanitarian and social activities. The blood donated will save people’s lives and often, we do not realize how important that is. This is why this exercise is being conducted; to raise such awareness and mobilize individuals in saving lives.”

Sophia Lissah, Media and Public Relations Manager for UT Bank reiterated the essence of the project stating that “access to safe blood will indeed save precious lives. For us at UT Bank, we are passionate about touching people’s lives in real meaningful ways. Partnering with Happy fm to do this is our way of demonstrating our commitment to Ghanaians. I urge everybody to join us on May 25 to donate blood to save a life”.

The blood donation exercise is expected to be an annual event.
