Ghana WASH Journalists Network (GWJN) has called for the immediate release of the two reporters of Modern Ghana who have been arrested by National Security operatives.

A group of men introducing themselves as National Security operatives raided the office of online news outlet, and picked up Emmanuel Ajafor together with one of his colleagues by state security operatives on Thursday, June 27, 2019.

In a press release issued by National General Secretary of Ghana WASH Journalists Network (GWJN) Samuel Asamoah , and copied to News Ghana online, they association condemned in no uncertain terms, the crude method adopted by security operatives to deal with journalists in a so-called fledgling democracy.

“We understand their equipment and gadgets were also taken over by the said security operatives,” they stated.

We demand the immediate release of Emmanuel Ajafor and his colleague by the state security operatives.

GWJN DEMANDS IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF TWO REPORTERS OF MODERN GHANA

It Has come to the notice of the membership and leadership of the Ghana WASH Journalists Network (GWJN) that one of the members of the network, Emmanuel Ajafor of modernghanaonline was picked up together with one of his colleagues by state security operatives on Thursday, June 27,2019.

We understand their equipment and gadgets were also taken over by the said security operatives.

GWJN condemns in no uncertain terms, the crude method adopted by security operatives to deal with journalists in a so-called fledgling democracy.

We demand the immediate release of Emmanuel Ajafor and his colleague by the state security operatives.
