A woman opened fire on pop star Rihanna’s Beverly Hills-area mansion in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon while the Grammy Award-winning artist was inside, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed. No injuries were reported.
Officers responded to reports of the shooting at 1:15 p.m. after a woman discharged an AR-15-style rifle at the property. Four rounds struck parts of the home’s exterior. Bullet holes were found in a gate at the property and in a recreational vehicle parked in the driveway.
Investigators say the gunfire came from a car positioned across the street from the singer’s mansion. Neighbours reported hearing the shots in quick succession, with at least one bullet penetrating the wall of the home.
Police identified the suspect as Ivanna Ortiz, who is being held on $10.2 million bail. Authorities have not cited a motive for the attack. She was apprehended in a shopping centre parking lot in Sherman Oaks, roughly 30 minutes after the initial 911 call.
Rihanna shares three children with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky. It was unclear whether A$AP Rocky and the children were home at the time of the shooting.
The LAPD said the investigation remains ongoing and that additional details, including formal booking charges, would be released.
