Three people were killed when gunmen opened fire on local farmers in a fresh attack on a village in northern Nigeria early Monday, according to local officials.

Bodies of the victims were recovered from a farm in Gerti, a village in Jama, in the northern state of Kaduna, said Philip Christopher, a local councilor.

“A man, his son, and one other person were shot dead while working on their farms. The gunmen came on motorbikes,” Christopher said.

A witness raced to the village to alert other villagers and security operatives in the area.

Gerti has witnessed many deadly attacks in recent times. Enditem
