The New Patriotic Party has stated that further to the earlier communication on the election of Regional Representatives on the National Steering Committee has issued new guidelines for the conduct of the election of Regional Representatives on the National Council. The Election is under Article 7 (15) d of the Party?s Constitution:

Nomination/Filing Fees to be paid by Aspirants shall be Two Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH?2,000.00).

  1. Nominations are to remain open until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 27th June 2014.
  2. It is advised that you ensure that the elections are held in strict conformity with the provisions of the Party?s Constitution.
  3. The elections should be representative of the demography of the Region as to reflect the diversity and national character of the Party.
  4. The elections shall be supervised by Representatives of the National Executive Committee as per the attached List. The outcome shall be determined by simple majority.
  5. The number of Regional Representatives, per each Region, is shown on the attached Schedule.
  6. Any matter that may arise in the organization and conduct of the Elections should be promptly reported to the General Secretary for resolution.

The release say it is the party’s hope that these Guidelines will greatly assist in the organization and conduct of the Extraordinary Regional Delegates Conferences to elect Regional Representatives on the National Council.

It will be recalled that there was brouhaha over the call by the Party Chairman to all regional chairmen that election was the right procedure instead of appointing as done over the years which has yielded opposition and fights at the party’s office. finally the chairmen have seen wisdom to conduct the elections after all.

Yours faithfully,

(Signed)

KWABENA AGYEI AGYEPONG

GENERAL SECRETARY
