The Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) has given a fee concession of 1,200 pounds for teachers pursuing its Master of Arts programme in Education Leadership offered in partnership with Staffordshire University, UK.

The University said the concession is a response to a special request by teachers for downward review of the fee and its commitment to rope in more teachers to take full advantage of quality postgraduate programmes.

Mrs Afua Amankwah Sarkodie, Head of the University?s Public Relations, told the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday that, the windfall was to create opportunities for many Ghanaian teachers to access the programme.

?In response to a special request for fee reduction, the university authority has decided to slash the fee from 5,000 pounds to 3,800 pounds.

?Thus, giving a scholarship of 1,200 pounds, to enable members of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) to get on to the programme?, Mrs Sarkodie added.

She explained that the continuous development Postgraduate programme is to run for two years with the degree awarded by the Staffordshire University.

She noted that the MA programme is specially designed for teachers and administrators of public and private schools, with passion to improve upon current educational practices towards quality outcome.

She observed that the course inspires leadership in education with major emphasis on the design of learning curriculum, assessment, collaboration and mentoring in educational settings.

The university on Wednesday facilitated a seminar for 160 teachers selected from the Greater Accra regional branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers and representatives from various schools in the region.

Mrs Sarkordie noted that the meeting created a unique opportunity to players in the education sector, desirous of pursuing higher quality leadership programmes.

Participants at the seminar expressed deep appreciation about the depth and significance of the session.

The Leadership of the regional GNAT encouraged members to pursue high quality educational programmes to upgrade their skills in order to remain relevant in the field and contribute meaningfully to social and economic development. GNA
