The ‘Year of Return, Ghana 2019’ festival to be organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority, (GTA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) would be held from January 2 to 4, 2019.

The festival, which is aimed at promoting the African continent and Ghana in particular, to become a catalyst for tourism and investment, is in partnership with the Office of Diaspora Affairs (Office of the President), the Panafest Foundation and the Adinkra Group of USA.

As part of the programme of activities, the maiden edition of the ‘This Is New Africa (TINA) Kente Festival would also be observed.

A release issued to the Ghana News Agency on Monday in Accra, said the Global Afro Beat superstar Fuse ODG, who is the originator of the TINA festival, would use his music to influence and promote Ghana and Africa in a way that has never been done before.

He is famous not only for his music and helping the rise of Afrobeats worldwide but also for his tireless commitment to re-educate how Africa is perceived in the world.

The TINA festival is a platform to unite the global African family (Diaspora), home and abroad to experience the culture and heritage and tell the story to change global perceptions about Africa and Ghana in particular. The festival would be held at Ghana’s iconic venue, the Trade Fair Centre-La, Accra.

Activities lined up for the festival include Nation Builders Day, on January 2, 2019 at the Akosombo School, Global Diaspora Conference and Exhibition, on January 3, 2019 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), Accra, TINA Music Festival, on January 4, 2019, at the Fantasy Done, Trade Fair, Accra.

According to the release, the speakers for the global diaspora conference and exhibition include Samia Yaba Nkrumah, Political Activist, Fuse ODG, Reggie Yates, BBC TV Broadcaster, Ama K. Abebrese, Actress, and Chaka Bars of ‘1 Heart Africa.

It said there would also be performances from notable artists at the music festival such as Fuse ODG, Sarkodie, Stefflon Don, Joey B, Lethal Bizzle, and many more.
