The Ghana Tourism Authority in collaboration with The Tour Operator Union of Ghana is hosting a nine-member delegation from Europe.

The delegation which is in Ghana to familiarise itself with Ghana’s tourism sector, consist of seven tour operators, one travel writer and a journalist.

In an interview, the Marketing Manager of GTA, Mrs. Roberta Dawson-Amoah, said the GTA was partnering the private sector to offer the delegation a first-hand opportunity of experiencing Ghana through the tourism sector, and redirect tourism traffic to the country.

The team which is expected to be in Ghana for a week, will visit various tourists sites across the country. They will be in Cape Coast, Akosombo, and Kumasi where they will pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfou Osei Tutu II.

A member of the delegation who is a Tour Operator, Ms. Daniela Doppelhamer, expressed her excitement for the visit, especially about the industry and as well as the warm and welcoming Ghanaian hospitality.

She mentioned that, as a tour operator, having a first-hand experience of the country would help her in making recommendations to the numerous tourists who would want to travel to the West African sub region.

The Tour Coordinator of TOUGHA, Mr. Damba Mohammed Salley, in his remarks said, it was the unions hope that the delegation, after its experience would market the country to potential clients.
