The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has revealed that the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has made great strides under the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) contrary to reports in the media.?

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo observed that despite speculations that the programme has collapsed, beneficiaries have increased over the past three years under the watch of NDC.?

According to the minister, ?the ministry devised strategies to expand the program to cover all the 170 MMDAs [Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies]. This increased beneficiary schools from 10 in 2005 to 4,209 in 2011/2012 academic year.?

He added: ?In addition, beneficiary pupils have increased from one million and forty thousand pupils in the 2010/2011 academic year to 1.6 million school children in the 2011/2012 academic year.?

He said the people of ?Ghana can say that contrary to speculation that the school feeding program is collapsing, the “statistic on the ground shows that it is becoming bigger and better.?
