Plans are far advanced for government to complete the sea defence from Dzita to Fuveme. This was revealed by the Volta Regional Minister Hon Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa In a speech read on his behalf by the MCE of Anloga district Mr Seth Yormewu.

He also took advantage of the occasion to urge parents of Dzita to take advantage of the president’s free SHS intervention to send their children to school. He further reiterated the president’s commitment to making sure that the Keta Harbor project also becomes a reality. This, according to the minister, is seen in the president’s recent appointment of director for Keta Harbor project to start coordinating the project implementation activities. It is the expectation of the government that the harbor project would help in creating formal and informal jobs in the area.

The Guest Speaker, Marricke Kofi Gane, a development consultant and an independent Presidential Aspirant, speaking on the topic, Dzita Rising, mobilization our human capital for development used the occasion to appeal to the citizens of Dzita to get involve and contribute their widow’s mite to the development of Dzita.

On his part, the Dufia of Dzita, Torgbui Sabah IV, indicated how the receptive and peaceful nature of Dzita has been compromised with the menace of serial killings and urged the government to speed up with the investigation to bring the perpetrators to book and also immediately put in place measures to protect the people.

The chief, further indicated that Dzita is not only awashed with human capital but also a preserve of natural resources such as salt, clay, aqua culture and tourism. The chief appealed to the government, through the regional minister, for Dzita to also be considered a community suitable for situating one of the factories in line with the president’s One District One Factory initiative. This, according to the chief, will help curb the menace of unemployment with its associated vices in the area.

The Chairman of the occasion, Dr Collins Ahorlu who is also an aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for the area on the ticket of the NDC called on the citizens to unite behind the Dzita Development association in their war against ignorance, division and underdevelopment.

The President of the Dzita Development Association, Mr Joseph Yevu Agbenyega appealed for support from both government and the people for the association’s immediate projects; extention of potable water to Dzita Agbledomi, relocation of the Dzita schools and the improvement of security at the Dzita- Anyanui area. “We are calling on all heads of the 30 lineages that formed Dzita to step up and become an integral part of the governance of Dzita”,

Part of the activities marking the celebration was medical screening, inter-school quiz competition, Friday night candle procession with inter-generational dialogue, Miss Dzita, Grand Durbar Soccer gala and Beach party.
