Subject: ‘Your top job is to fast-track and complete ongoing projects’…. Gov. Shettima tells 24 sworn commissioners

The Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima has yesterday while presiding over the administration of oaths of allegiance and office to the 24 newly appointed state commissioners dropped a matching order to the state executive council members SEC to ensure that all the three and half years APC ruling government initiated ongoing people oriented projects and programmes in their respective ministries are accelerated and completed before the end of his first term in office May 29, 2014.

It will be recalled that the Governor also sworn-in the new Chief of Staff, Alhaji Modu Alhaji Musa, two newly appointed permanent secretaries and the caretaker committee chairman of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council at the multi-purpose hall of the Government House in Maiduguri amidst mammoth crowd of APC supporters and members.

However, eleven state commissioners and one Special Adviser on Documentation overseeing information ministry before the dissolution of the SEC three months ago when Mr. INUWA Bwala was sacked by the governor out of the 24 commissioners were part of the Governor’s old state cabinet before the cabinet was dissolved about three months ago while twelve are new appointees from the academia, politics, banking, business, opposition party PDP, Alliance for Democracy AD, defunct ANPP and unions.

In his speech to the new SEC at the first SEC meeting after the swearing in ceremony where portfolios ere assigned to each of the commissioners, Governor Shettima told the commissioners not to regard the last six months of his first term in office as a fun time but rather another phase of serious work.
“some people may regard the last six months of this administration?s first term in office as a glee time but for me, we are in the most serious another phase of work. I call it most serious because no matter how good a work is started, the finishing tells everything about the work. The next six months, will insha Allah, see us accelerating and completing all Government Projects and speeding the provision of services to our good citizens. Commissioners have two-point agenda in the next six months to carry out their respective ministeria responsibilities towards achieving the goals of the APC ruling party in the state which are the policy thrust of the present administration of Governor Kashim Shettima.
