Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has expressed optimism that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will win the November 2 local council polls in the state.
Chime made the assertion on Saturday in Enugu at the flag off of the party’s campaign for Enugu North, South and East Local Government Areas.
According to him, the outstanding performance of outgoing local council chairmen and councillors in the state will swing the poll to the party.
“We are here to urge you to endorse our candidates. On November 2, there will just be a yes or no vote to formalise the coming in of these men and women as chairmen and deputies.
“We just want to fulfil all righteousness with the election, but I know that these men and women are chairmen and deputies already, come November 2.
“In Enugu State, anybody who is not in PDP is either a contractor or a civil servant but definitely not a politician,?? he said.
Also speaking at the rally, the state Chairman of the party, Chief Vita Abba called on the electorate to vote for PDP candidates during the election.
“The incumbent chairmen have raised the bar for their successors, I hope those coming in will follow the trend and even perform better.
“I am certain that you will not disappoint us and the party.??
In his address, the PDP candidate for Enugu South local government, Mr Victor Agbo commended the people for their trust, assuring that he would not disappoint if given the mandate.
Also, the party?s flag bearer for Enugu North local council, Mr Emeka Ede, thanked the governor for given the incumbent local government chairmen the enabling environment to function.
Edepledged to initiate quality programmes and policies that would change the lives of the people positively, if elected.
