Celebrated Ghanaian gospel music artist, Yaw Sarpong, of the Asumafo Band who has been in the musical wilderness for the past years has resurfaced after undergoing successful treatment for an inexplicable paralysis that had put him in a dire state.

images (1)He was treated and declared fit at the New Jerusalem Chapel at Sokoban-Ampeyoo near Kumasi after physicians at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kole Bu Teaching Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital failed to find appropriate treatment for his ailment.

He was confined to the wheelchair and was told by doctors that he will not be able to use his legs again even if a planned surgery to correct a spinal disorder was successful.

At a thanksgiving and baptism service to praise God for the miracle done to him, Yaw Sarpong narrated how he was introduced to Bishop John Yaw Adu of the New Jerusalem Chapel (NJC) after his situation had seemed hopeless. He resolved then to resort to spiritual treatment while shunning orthodox medical treatment.

After intensive fasting and prayer, the ace silky voice musician is now ready to start what he has been noted for, which is to produce music of the highest quality that has earned him the admiration of many Ghanaians.

Family, friends and hundreds of sympathizers from all walks of life converged at the forecourt of NJC to help Yaw Sarpong give thanks and praises to the Lord for figuratively bringing him back to life.

Celebrated highlife and gospel musicians such as Nana Kwame Ampadu, Pat Thomas, Nana Aboagye DaCosta, Professor Kofi Abraham Nicholas Omane Acheampong (Zaphanath Panea fame) graced the occasion to help their colleague praise God.

Politicians were not left out as the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Techiman South constituency, Hon Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Ekumfi and the Suame constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were also very conspicuous.

The church service went agog when local movie artist, Kyewaa, could not hide her joy and exhibited some Azonto moves whiles speaking some of her twisted English. Christopher Omane Acheampong further electrified the venue when he sung his Zaphanath Panea hit song.

To show his admirers what he has in store for them, Yaw Sarpong has already released an album which was also launch at the thanksgiving and baptism service. The high patronage shown by the gathering goes to tell how he has been missed.

The General Overseer of the New Jerusalem Chapel, Bishop John Yaw Adu, in a sermon reminded the gathering that they days of miracles are not over since God has not forsaken true believers.

He called on Christians to stay strong and put their trust in the Lord who has promised to rescue them from the machinations of the evil one and his principalities.

He was not happy that idol worship is on the rise in Ghana as most people including believers who are afflicted, quickly resort to shrines to seek remedies when the Lord can do greater works for them.
