President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah has congratulated the Normalization Committee (NC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for organizing the first ever presidential debate among contestants for the top job.

Ben Nunoo Mensah who made his presence felt at the debate advised the candidates to be civil in their campaign as they are all highly respected in the sports fraternity.

He commended the football officials for their patience, since the former president Kwesi Nyantekyi was banned and they have been trying to find ways and means to reform the association.

Ben Nunoo Mensah who is also president of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) and a keen football fan having served on the Accra Hearts of Oak management and catered for some footballers said football is the passion of the nation, and those who are holding the game on behalf on the millions of passionate Ghanaians must be very cautious in taking and making decisions.

He said the football front in Ghana needs a revolutionary leader, unifier and reformist who can redeem and bring back the lost image and glory.

“The whole world is watching Ghana, and I believe we are going to prove that we are seasoned in the game of football and the best candidate is going to turn things round for the best to coming in the years ahead” he said.

The GOC president who was sad with the exit of the Black Queens from the Olympic Qualifiers prayed that the Black Meteors who have qualified for the final phase tournament would be supported to make it to the 2020 Tokyo Games.

He noted that football draws more attention and publicity so Ghana is going to make a great impression if the Black Meteors qualify to the 2020 Olympic Games.
