CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO MR. PRESIDENT FROM THE CONCERN CITIZENS OF ABIREM CONSTITUENCY OF THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY IN THE EASTERN REGION.

We congratulate the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo on his election as the President on 7/12/2016 by the people of this great nation.

Again, we want to thank H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo – Addo very well for honouring the people of Abirem constituency by appointing Hon. Charles Owiredu as the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister who is a native of Afosu community.

We also congratulate our affable Member of Parliament (M.P) who is also a native of Ntronang, Hon John Osei Frimpong for his victory and the confidence the good people of Abirem have reposed in him.

We are much grateful to you Mr. President for what you have done for the people of Abirem constituency.

But there is one very last IMPORTANT thing that we are appealing to Mr. President to consider us, since he believes in equally distribution of resources and position.

Abirem constituency strategically consist of the Northern sector and Southern sector. This helps in the equal distributions of national resources for development and also appointment of political positions to ensure fairness.

The Member of Parliament is coming from the Southern sector, which is NTRONANG, Hon. Charles Wiredu, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister is also from AFOSU, all in the Southern sector and now it is left with the District Chief Executive (DCE) position. All immediate past Member of Parliament and District Chief Executive as well as the Eastern Regional Minister during National Democratic Congress regime were all from the South.

Due to this, the gap in terms of development between the South and the North is wider. The development deficit in the Northern part of the district is very worrying and if care is not taking can affect the voting pattern.

We are pleading with Mr. President to honour the NORTHERN SECTOR with the District Chief Executive (DCE) position so that there will be fairness and equity in the distribution of the positions since that is the stronghold of the party.

For the records, almost all the important political positions have been emerging from the Southern Sector which is helping to shift all development projects to that leaving those in the other divine to their own fate.

Since the Fourth Republic, all political positions or appointments are always given to those from the South notably Former M.P and former Minister of Mines under Ex-President J.A. Kuffour’s era, Hon. Esther Obeng Dapaah was from NKWATENG, the immediate past DCE during the opposition NDC era, Hon. Paul Aboagye Dadzie was from NTRONANG, former DCE, former Deputy Regional Minister and former Regional Minister of Eastern Region, Hon. Mavis Ama Frimpong was also from AFOSU in the Southern sector.

Mr. President, you will be surprised to know that, the Northern sector has remained the stronghold of our party since 1992 and we strongly appeal for anyone who is in doubt of this records to cross check this facts. But because all the positions are always given to those from the South and due to Newmont also located at South, the development agenda is always concentrated in the South leaving those in the North very deprived of basic social amenities and the deplorable state of our roads and town streets the least said about them the better.

The three(3) main towns in the Northern sector namely Pankese, Akuase and Amuana Praso are the strongholds of our party in the constituency and since the records are available by courtesy of the IT Department for elections 2016, headed by Mr. Joe Anokye who is now the Director General of National Communication Authority, it can be cross checked as the records are our evidence-in-chief.

The National Organizer and the Acting General Secretary of our great party, Mr. John Boadu said in a Press Conference that where there is a Member of Parliament, Minister or Deputy Minister coming from particular place, there is no way that a DCE will be appointed from that same town since as party we need to ensure positions are evenly and fairly distributed to help sustain our victory.

However, the intelligence and our investigation indicate that, if Mr President your high office is not reminded of this important information from Abirem constituency, we are most likely to experience such problem which will defeat the purpose of the statement made by our Ag. General Secretary.

WHY ARE WE SAYING THAT?

If the next DCE of Abirem constituency is appointed from the Southern sector then it is contrary to the words of our affable National Organizer and Acting General Secretary because the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Charles Owiredu is from the same town where Mr. Daniel Kwadwo Afrifa is coming from, which is AFOSU in the Southern sector.

HOW CAN TWO (2)GOVERNMENT APPOINTEE POSITIONS GO TO THE SAME TOWN?

Is a question we are asking from our top leaders of our great party.

Mr. President it will interest you to know that although Pankese and Amuana Praso are the two most loyal towns of the NPP besides Akuase in the Abirem Constituency which vote massively over 80% for the NPP since 1992, not a single person was chosen from Pankese and Amuana Praso out of twelve people who were selected as government appointees to the District Assembly, although some towns had two and three appointees. Interestingly apart from two appointees coming from Akoase, all the other ten out of the total twelve are from the Southern sector which are not the strongholds of the Party. What an injustice to the good people of Pankese and Amuana Praso which always vote massively for the NPP at every election since 1992 be it Presidential, Parliamentary or Assembly Elections.

Ironically since 1992 all the two elected Assembly members from Afosu have always been NDC, whereas those of Pankese, Amuana Praso and Akuase have always been NPP since 1992.

There is no dispute that Afosu, the hometown of Hon. Mavis Ama Frimpong is an NDC stronghold and for the past eight (8) years been voting for NDC even in the district Assembly elections. For the past eight (8) years the two (2) Assembly members are always NDC.

In order not for the people from the Northern sector of the Party, particularly Pankese, Amuana and Akuase which are the major strongholds of the NPP in the Abirem constituency to continue feeling rejected and neglected in appointments we are pleading that the DCE position be given to an indigene from these three towns.

The only person among the shortlisted candidates for the position of DCE from these strongholds but neglected towns is Hon. Kwadwo Boateng Sarpong from Pankese. As the current Assembly member of the Pankese Electoral Area for two consecutive terms, Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Birim North District Assembly, senior staff of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and holding three different masters degrees in the fields of Accounting, Finance and Human Resource Management as well as other professional qualifications in many fields, he stands tall among the shortlisted candidates.

No wonder he is the choice of the people of the Abirem Constituency.

We are therefore recommending and pleading that Hon. Kwadwo Boateng Sarpong from PANKESE be appointed as the DCE for the Birim North District Assembly.

We know that Mr. President will not do anything contrary to what the affable National Organizer and Acting General Secretary, Mr. John Boadu said but we are reminding Mr. President about it and We hope he will listen to our humble appeal and honour the Northern sector this time based on their long term loyalty since 1992 and in the interest of our great Party.

Thank you.

Long live Mr. President
Long live N.P.P
Long live Ghana
