Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday launched the Economic, Trade and Investment Bureau (ECTIB) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

The initiative is aimed at positioning the ministry as a strategic player in the pursuit of the government’s vision of a Ghana Beyond Aid.

The bureau is expected to serve as the nerve center for the ministry in prosecuting Ghana’s economic interests abroad.

President Akufo-Addo said the setting up of the bureau was a welcome and timely addition to help facilitate further investments, domestic and foreign, into Ghana, calling for the tapping of the tourism potential of the country.

He said tourism had made a substantial contribution to the country’s balance of payments, employment, national income and promotion and its considerable potential as a major source of foreign exchange must be tapped. Enditem
