Ghana’s Financial Stocks Index Smashes 10,000 Points for First Time

Ghana’s stock market wrote another chapter of history on Thursday as the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI) crossed the 10,000-point mark for the first time, closing at 10,007.68 after surging 248.25 points during the 7,171st trading session.

The milestone capped a week of relentless gains on the Accra bourse, with the GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) also advancing 123.31 points to settle at 15,524.99, its highest level on record.

Market capitalisation climbed to GH₵287,827.91 million, up from GH₵282,909.83 million recorded in Wednesday’s session, reflecting continued wealth creation across listed equities.

Investor activity gathered further momentum during Thursday’s session, with 5,104,565 shares changing hands for a combined value of GH₵34,804,503.13, the strongest single-day turnover figure of the week.

Since the start of the year, the GSE-CI has now returned 77.02 percent while the GSE-FSI has delivered 115.35 percent, more than doubling investor capital in just over two months, cementing Ghana’s position among the best-performing equity markets globally in 2026.
