Mr. Ebenezer Adams, Director of Operations of Stroke Association Support Network of Ghana and Vice Chairman of Ghana Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) Alliance, has called for more efforts to prevent NCD’s among Ghanaians.

He observed that, the rate at which people are dying from hypertension, diabetes, stroke and cancer is alarming and that people need to be sensitized to engage in regular exercise to protect themselves from NCDs.

He said being physically active everyday could help reduce ones chances of getting NCDs by 30 per cent.

Mr Ad Adams advised Ghanaians to eat healthy diets, minimize or put a stop to alcohol intake and tobacco to help protect themselves from NCDs.

Mr Ad Adams gave the advice at the Adweso Go Health Walk and Aerobics Day organised by Adehye Fitness Club and Stroke Association Support Network of Ghana as part of activities to mark the AU day in Koforidua.

The walk which was on the theme, “Walk against Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD’s)” saw hundreds of residents of Adweso take part in a two and half hours walk and aerobics exercise.

He advised that after such keep fit exercises there is the need to avoid lifestyles that contributes to the increase of the NCD’s.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Fitness Instructor of Adehye Fitness Club, Mr Siaw Ankomah Paa Kwesi, said his outfit seeks to sensitize the public to understand the importance of exercise to their health and well being.

He invited people in and around Adweso Estates near Koforidua to join the club, get motivation to exercise regularly and stay healthy.

A participant, Charles Odei said he has really benefited immensely, because he has not been actively involved much in exercise and urged the organizers to continue with such programs to enable the Adweso community to regularly exercise and keep fit.
