Pastor Kwasi Asante Annor, the head pastor of the A.T. Nartey Assembly of the Church of Pentecost, at the weekend admonished Ghanaians to eschew acts that retard development.

He said, acts such as theft, bribery and corruption, backbiting and armed robbery, were some actions that hindered growth and retarded development of the nation.

Delivering a sermon on the theme, “Since God is Building His Church: What Every Christian Should Know,” Pastor Annor bemoaned the increase in social vices and the lackadaisical attitudes toward addressing them by the community.

He quoted 1 Corinthians 6:9-20, which explained how the Apostle Paul instructed the Corinthians to live their lives that pleased their maker, in a society that was full of vices.

“Like the Corinth Church, the society today is full of vices and challenges, but some people and cultures have made these acts seem a normal way of life.

“Social vices such as stealing, bribery and corruption, robbery, backbiting, cheating, just to mention but a few, are questionable behaviours, which are punishable by law,” he said.

He said, citizens should however be mindful that despite the leverage they had in doing whatever that pleased them, their actions should not distract national growth.

“Let’s not just put a stop to such vices just because the law frowns upon them or just because we will be punished when caught, but we should have the mindset that all things are permissible, but not all acts are beneficial to us”, he cautioned.

“We are the salt and light of the world so let’s live a life that will be pleasing to our maker and the society at large. When we programme our minds in such a way, the society will be a better place to live”, he added.
