Nana Osei Darkwa

Nana Yaw Osei-Darkwa, the National Coordinator of peace advocacy group, Ghana Peace Campaign, would represent Ghana at this year?s International Youth Conference in Slovenia.

The Ypsilon Institute, a Slovenian Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), which deals with youth and inter-generational cooperation, has extended an invitation to Mr. Osei-Darkwa in recognition of his trail-blazing role in youth advocacy in Ghana.

Through the Ghana Peace Campaign, Mr. Osei-Darkwa has spoken to the youth of Ghana on several platforms concerning the need to maintain peace in Ghana and eschew violence.

The conference themed; ?Youth for Common Future? will be held in Slovenia from September 28th to October 5th 2012.

On the invitation, the Ypsilon Institute wrote, ?We are highly delighted and honoured to invite you to participate as a speaker. We believe you can contribute a great deal to impact participating youth at the conference with your skills, experience and deep knowledge on youth related issues in Ghana, Africa and the world at large.

?We have carefully settled on you as the only speaker from Africa after considering your exploits both home and abroad especially in the area of the promotion of a culture of peace and nonviolence and are convinced that you would be of great importance to the conference,? the Institute stated.

The aim of the conference is to strengthen and empower youth organizations and informal youth groups from 10 different EU and neighbour countries from Central and Eastern Europe including Bulgaria, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Latvia, Montenegro, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey for taking an active role in European Citizenship and participating in building competitive and peaceful societies.

The objective of the conference is to identify issues relating to the youth from all participant countries and through innovative thinking and cooperation find possible solutions and opportunities for solving them.
