Muhammed Muniru Ali, the Acting Volta Regional Imam, has called on Muslims to renew their commitment to God and the nation as they marked the beginning of a new year.

He said this in an interview with the media after a ceremony in Ho to mark Eid-ul-Adha, the feast of sacrifice in commemoration of Prophet Abraham’s love and obedience to God, which he demonstrated through the sacrifice of his son, Ishmael.

The Imam asked Muslims to emulate the act of obedience and sacrifice towards strengthening faith in God and the development of society.

He said the act of giving further fostered unity among families and the community as a whole and advised against over jubilation.

Mr Nelson Akorli, the Ho Municipal Chief Executive, earlier presented a bull and some items to the Muslim Community, and said the festival cemented the clear link between Christians and Muslims, therefore the need to celebrate together.

He appealed to the youth to uphold high moral standards, which would impact positively on the image of Zongo communities.

Mr Akorli said the Assembly would ensure the completion of the ongoing Community-Based Health Planning Services in one of the communities by the end of the year, as well as the fencing of a school used as a thoroughfare by drivers.

He promised the construction of proper waste disposal systems for the Zongo communities in the Municipality.
