Two international Ghanaian fashion designers, Duaba Serwa and Mina Evans have wowed audience at this year?s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa which ended last Saturday at Johannesburg, South Africa.

The two fashion designers dazzled the audience with their 2013/2014 collections inspired by nature.

Other designers who took part in this year?s fashion week included Taibo Bacar (Winner of the 2012 Designer of the Year AFI Africa Fashion Awards) from Mozambique; Mille Collines from Rwanda, Sheria Ngowi and Mustafa Hassanali from Tanzania; David Tlale, Marianne Fassler and Thula Sindi from South Africa.

In an interview with citifmonline.com, Duaba Serwa, who showcased her collections under the tag line ?Sans Titre? said, ?I wanted to make a collection that was sophisticated but simple enough that every woman could relate to.?

Serwa disclosed that she sourced some of her fabrics from Japan and India and some other places but most of the fabrics were from Ghana; the batiks were dyed and hand made from Ghana.

This is her third time showcasing at the Africa Fashion Week in South Africa and she said ?it gets better each time.?

On her part, however, Mina Evans, who said her inspiration was mainly from butterflies, took the show to a whole new level of fashion, making good use of African prints.

She said in an interview that ?for the woman I had in mind for this collection, I wanted to give a royal feel so I explored the metalics, gold, bronze and some leather.

?For the past few collections we have used African prints and I wanted to go back to it but not too much, hence the subtle use of those fabrics.?

Both women have promised to stage high standard fashion styles and shows in Ghana soon.
