The India police has arrested five Africans including a Ghanaian for allegedly providing fake passports and visas to fellow African nationals.

The gang was said to have been busted after a deal was struck between the racketeers and a decoy customer for providing a fake passport with fake Indian visa and immigration stamp.

Three of the five persons were Nigerians and one Kenyan, Indian authority says.

India’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Railways), Ashok Chand said “Gabriel Olawale Ajisafe, Sunny Odigie alias Sunday, Enwere Okechukwa Kelvin – from Nigeria, Caroline Cherotich from Kenya, Augustine John Kwaku Kyare from Ghana were arrested Wednesday from the Golchha theatre in Daryaganj and Ganesh Nagar,” reports Indian private news agency Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) February17, 2012.

According to the report, around 120 fake passports, 300 visas, and 22,000 fake US dollars have been recovered from the accused.

“They were involved in printing of counterfeit US dollars, making fake passports of African countries, fake water marks, fake Indian visas, fake residential permits, fake stamps and seals,” IANS quoted Chand as saying.
