The Ghana government plans to use the World Cup as a platform to boost economic and tourism drive.

Ghana will be making a third successive appearance at the world showpiece next year in Brazil.

The Black Stars sealed qualification to the 2014 World Cup despite a 2-1 defeat to Egypt on Tuesday.

The Ghana team had taken a commanding 6-1 advantage in the first leg meeting of the playoff tie.

The Black Stars thus qualified with a massive 7-3 aggregate scoreline.

The state however wants to use Ghana?s third campaign at the World Cup to boost its economic and tourism drive by staging promotional activities during the tournament in Brazil.

?We are going to plan this World Cup, we don?t want it to be just a football affair but we want it to become an event,? sports minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah revealed in a press briefing after Ghana?s qualification.

?We are going to have investment promotion on the side, cultural activities on the side where we are going to showcase Ghana so we take advantage of the exposure at the World Cup to position Ghana strategically.

?So the brand of Ghana of Ghana, we will use the World Cup as a platform to build and re-position Ghana in a positive light.?
