The two justices were challenging the Judicial Council for withholding their full salaries.

It could be recall that the two High Court judges were implicated in a recent bribery scandal uncovered by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, after their indictment, the Judicial Council served them notices that they would receive half of their salaries while they were still being investigated in connection with the scandal.

Uncomfortable with the decision by the Judicial Council, the two judges sued the Judicial Council and the Chief Justice for the decision to withhold their salaries.

At the Supreme Court, the two judges sought a declaration that the decision of the Judicial Council in December 2015, which were contained in letters dated January 8 to 11, 2016, purporting to suspend payments to the plaintiffs of all their allowances except rent, was inconsistent in law, null and void, claiming that the decision is in contravention of Article 127(5) of the 1992 Constitution.

However, sitting on the case, all five justices of the Supreme Court dismissed the case, saying their reasons would be given in seven days.
