Ghana Shippers Authority CEO Professor Ransford Gyampo has cautioned President John Mahama against being swayed by newfound praise from former critics, emphasizing that stolen state funds must be recovered regardless of political rhetoric.
His remarks on TV3’s Key Points program followed NPP stalwart Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko’s characterization of Mahama as “Ghana’s most prepared president” due to his extensive governance experience.
While acknowledging Mahama’s political credentials, Gyampo insisted that accountability for alleged past corruption remains non-negotiable.
Otchere-Darko separately warned of heightened expectations among youth voters, noting the administration’s “24-hour economy” promises face unprecedented scrutiny in Ghana’s digital era.
The exchange highlights competing pressures on the government to balance political reconciliation with anti-corruption enforcement and rapid economic delivery.
