The relationship between Ghana and Romania was on Wednesday deepened with the launch of the Ghana Romania Chamber of Commerce at a splendid and well-attended ceremony in Accra under the auspices of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a Deputy Minister of Local Government & Rural Development, who officially launched the chamber, urged foreign investors not to be perturbed by the political rivalry that exist among the largest political parties in the country which at times result in the use of harsh language and fuelled tension, adding all such statements added colour to the democracy of Ghana.

“Investors are invited to Ghana to lodge whatever investments they want to make. I want to assure them that their investments will forever be safe irrespective of the political debates.”

Alexandru Alexandrescu, president of the Ghana Romania Chamber of Commerce, in a speech, noted that services in both countries were diverse for which reason there was the need to internationalise and advertise those for the common good of all.

“Romania, just like Ghana, comprises social classes and sections. Citizens of both countries, irrespective of nationality, race, sex or religion, have equal rights in all fields of economic, political, judicial, social and cultural life. In fact, the Ghana Romania Chamber of Commerce will provide the ideal forum to connect Romanian businesses with Ghanaian businesses so that they are able to share experiences, information and intelligence,” Mr Alexandrescu mentioned.

He revealed that economic and social progress of the two countries  was greatly hinged on the success of the chamber and therefore called on members to work hard towards its progress.

Present at the occasion was Cosmin Marina, representative of the Romania Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nicolae Moldoveanu, Romanian Ambassador to Ghana, Hackman Owusu Agyeman and Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, former ministers of state and a regent of Nigeria.
