Giving hints of what would be found in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto to be launched this Saturday, the president said late Tuesday that he would work with Ghanaians to ensure economic development and security for all if he were re-elected.

The president said the manifesto is structured on four thematic areas, which include putting people first, a strong and resilient economy for job creation, expanding social and economic infrastructure, and transparent and accountable governance.

As Ghana is beginning to overcome its previous power challenges, the country is at the same time increasing its power generation capacity, according to the president.

“We are entering the era of energy security; it means that we are going to have excess electricity and if you have excess electricity then you must have off-takers.”

“And so we need to get heavy industry that uses more electricity to set up in Ghana: steel mills, glass manufacturing, ceramic brick and tile, and all those other things will be brought in to set up,” the president hinted.

The government will accelerate the industrialization process by initiate investments in factories and then invite private sector to help in management, added Mahama.

“We will continue to place industries based on the value chain,” he said, explaining that the main financing source of industry will be the newly established Ghana Exim Bank and the Sovereign Wealth Fund the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund. Enditem
