Three goals from Diadie Samassekou, Diedonne Gbakle and Aboubacar Doumbia enabled Mali a smooth passage to the quarter final stage of the 2015 FIFA U-20 tournament in New Zealand.
MaliThe Les Aigles produced a mouth-watering game worth qualification with swift and slick interplay that caught the Ghana defence off guard. Satellites goalie, Lawrence Ati was called to duty by Souleymane Diarra in less than 12th minutes of action.
The Malians broke the deadlock in the 20th minute courtesy Diadie Samassekou’s left-foot shot. The goal was borne out of a quick counter interplay between Adama Traore and Samassekou. The Black Satellites nearly found the back of the net before half time but Digui Diarra in post for the Les Aigles denied Emmanuel Boateng on two different occasions.
The Malians increased their lead in the 53rd minute through Diedonne Gbakle. Diadie Samassekou beat a couple of Ghanaian players, curled a nice cross from 20 meters out to deceive goalkeeper Lawrence Ati.
Aboubacar Doumbia sealed the deal for the Les Aigles in the 81st minute with a magnificent chip of the night.
Mali will now face either Germany or Nigeria in the quarter finals in Christchurch.
