The statement, signed by Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta, said the government would appoint a new governor in the coming weeks.

The statement, which congratulated out-going governor Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku who tendered his resignation on Wednesday for his stewardship, also assured stakeholders that the new governor, when appointed, would build significantly on the success of Issahaku, based on the government’s commitment to macroeconomic stability.

“A number of reforms to the bank’s monetary policy framework under his watch include improvements in the areas of macroeconomic forecasting and analysis, the use of forecasts in policy decisions, the organization of decision-making processes, and the communication of monetary policy decisions,” the statement noted.
