The plant which is located on a 100-acre land near Winneba in the Central Region, was built in partnership with the Chinese Company, Beijing Xiaocheng Company (BXC) at the cost of US$30million.


News Ghana has established that the facility has been connected to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) sub-station at the Winneba roundabout Chinese company took six months to complete.

Project Manager, Luan Ye, in an interview with the Chinese Xinhua news agency said the aim of the company is to assist the ECG to overcome its transmission losses and to help Ghana overcome energy challenges.

He added that the company is a power technology company, and is doing the solar plant ‘…and in West Africa this is the first one. With this one, we hope to help Ghana people will get enough power”, Luan told Xinhua.

Ghana has been on record to be hard hit by a three and half years power crisis that impacted negatively on the operations of industry leading to massive job cuts and collapse of many companies.
