Ghana has risen nine places to rank 25th from the previous month?s 34th spot in the July edition of the FIFA world rankings released on Thursday.

Ghana, silver-medalist at this year?s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea, also gained some 27 points to increase its total point accumulation to 827 from June?s 800 points.

The Black Stars are now third on the continental table behind Algeria and Cote d?Ivoire.

Ghana?s climb has been credited to Black Stars? 7-1 thrashing of Mauritius in the 2017 AFCON qualifier last month and a win over Togo in a friendly recently.

Argentina is the new world leader for the first time in seven years, despite losing to Chile in the finals of the Copa America.
They are followed by 2014 world cup winners Germany and Belgium respectively. Enditem
