Ghana has officially begun preparations for the Specialized World Expo 2027 in Belgrade, Serbia, with the inauguration of a National Planning Committee on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in Accra. Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Sampson Ahi, led the ceremony that sets the stage for Ghana’s showcase at the May 2027 event.

The Inter-Ministerial Committee will oversee all planning, coordination, and execution activities as Ghana prepares to present its innovation, creativity, and cultural heritage to a global audience. Ahi emphasized the need for collaborative effort among committee members, urging them to leverage their diverse expertise to maximize the country’s impact at the international exposition.

“Ghana’s participation in Expo 2027 must reflect the nation’s creativity, resilience, and capacity for innovation,” Ahi stated. “I encourage the committee to ensure our showcase attracts investment and tells the world the story of a progressive and dynamic Ghana.”

The country will participate under the national theme “Playful Ghana: Creativity, Connection, and Cultural Power.” Ghana’s pavilion, titled “The Ghana Pulse: Rhythm of Progress,” will demonstrate how music, sports, storytelling, and innovation contribute to national identity and inclusive growth. This approach aligns with the Expo’s global theme, “Play for Humanity – Sport and Music for All.”

Visitors to the Ghanaian pavilion can expect interactive cultural experiences featuring traditional games such as Ampe and Pilolo. Live performances will showcase Ghanaian drumming and dance, while demonstrations will highlight indigenous instruments including the kora and fontomfrom. The pavilion will also present innovations in music technology, agricultural technology, and fashion through dedicated Business and Education Programmes.

According to the Ministry, Ghana aims to position itself as a creative and inclusive economy that harnesses cultural capital for economic growth. The participation objectives include fostering international partnerships across trade, education, tourism, and technology sectors. The government also hopes to inspire youth entrepreneurship and contribute to the Expo’s broader legacy by demonstrating how play can drive unity and sustainable development.

This marks another milestone in Ghana’s engagement with global exhibitions. The country previously participated in Expo 2020 Dubai and is preparing for Expo 2025 Osaka, building its reputation as a vibrant hub for creativity, culture, and innovation on the world stage.
