Ghana Dj Awards 2014 Launched

The Chief Executive Officer of Merqury Republic Events, Merqury Quaye, founder of the Ghana DJ Awards, has promised the stakeholders in the creative arts industry and Ghanaian music fans that this year?s edition of the awards slated for February 22, in Accra, will be historic and different from last year?s.

He said ?the much awaited DJ Awards this year will be different and historic and will be attended by some selected international acts.?

He also promised that this year?s edition of the awards will bring together the best of Ghana and international disc jockeys (DJs) to celebrate the event with music fans.

Regardless of the many times the award scheme has been criticized by those who do not understand the concept of the scheme, it continues to reign as one of the most recognized awards schemes.

In a chat with BEATWAVES during the launch of the event last Saturday night at the forecourt of Club 45 in Accra, Merqury Quaye explained that the Ghana DJ Awards is being organised to honour the country?s most hardworking and dedicated DJs who promote Ghanaian culture through music.

The launch of the event brought together a number of showbiz personalities, the media and individuals from the business community, majority of who were title sponsors of the awards.

Merqury Quaye disclosed that preparations for the event began last year with a series of intensive technical review sessions that sought to overhaul the entire awards scheme as part of efforts to make it unique, adding that this year?s event will witness performances from some selected music stars and DJs, spectacular performances, an electrifying ambiance and an absolutely exciting show on the night of February 22.

In a related development, a number of DJs in separate interviews with BEATWAVES were delighted about the awards scheme, since such awards always encourage players to put in more effort to be the best at what they do.

They noted that they were happy to see companies investing in the awards scheme to promote the music industry in Ghana to the outside world.

The DJs however appealed to individuals, organizations, stakeholders and the government to contribute towards the building of a vibrant music industry in the country.

This year?s event is being sponsored by DJ Drinks, Honda, Scratch Studios, Bel-Aqua and Red Bull.
