Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is worried over the break in the League

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah fears the delay in the start of the League could affect the chances of locals in the Black Stars.

The Black Stars will be heavily involved in the qualifying campaign for the 2013 African Cup of Nations to be staged in South Africa.

Appiah will need all his arsenals to be fully fit and in top shape for the game against Malawi in September and that will be at a time that the local players will not be playing competitive football due to the break in the country?s top flight league.

He says he is worried with the situation as he attempts to qualify the African giants for the continental showpiece by the scruff of the neck.

?Anything at all can happen. Some may be sick or injured. For now we?ll continue to monitor the players,? Appiah told Kumasi-based Fox FM

?The only problem is the break in the local league. And that means the players will be inactive for while.

?For now we?re going to continue with the monitoring of players. Most of them have teamed up with their foreign clubs on pre-season.?

Appiah handed a call up to nine local players for Ghana?s 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zambia last month.
