The National?Festival of Arts and?Culture (NAFAC)?2014 was inaugurated at?the Jubilee Park in Sunyani?in the Brong Ahafo?Region over the weekend?to showcase Ghanaian?culture customs and tradition.

The opening ceremony?witnessed several cultural?performances from?the various regions in the?country and a display of?assemble of chiefs in their?full regalia.

President John?Mahama, as the special?guest of honour, in his?speech at the ceremony?called for reflection on the?erosion of cultural norms?of Ghanaian society.

He bemoaned what he?described as the breakdown?of some Ghanaian?values which were?impacting society negatively;?adding that it is?about time the country?packaged and promoted?its unique culture globally.

The Minister for?Tourism, Culture and?Creative Arts, Elizabeth?Ofosu-Agyare,?announced the rehabilitation?of the region?s cultural?theatre which is fast?deteriorating, and called?for more media attention?for culture and creative?arts, underscoring its economic?boosting potentials.
